Make sure you read about breastfeeding or find out if your local hospital offers a breastfeeding class. Some classes are available virtually.

Get a breast pump! Most health insurance companies will cover the cost of a breast pump, but they may require a prescription from your doctor or midwife. Make sure to get one so you will have the pump when the baby arrives. Let your doctor know you plan to breastfeed so the prescription can be ready before you leave the hospital.
