For most pregnant people, the answer is yes if your doctor or midwife allows it.
If your doctor or midwife says yes, try to exercise about 2 ½ hours every week. That’s about 30 minutes a day.
If 30 minutes feels like too much, you can break it up during the day. Going on three ten-minute walks per day is fine.
You should still be able to talk while you work out. If you can’t breathe, you’re pushing too hard. Good activities are:
- A fast walk
- Swimming
- Riding an exercise bike
- Lifting light weights
- Prenatal yoga
Some people should not work out while pregnant. It’s very important to ask your doctor or midwife if it’s okay for you to exercise.
