Why I Want to Be an IBCLC

Olivia Floyd

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME AN IBCLC?

When I began breastfeeding my son, I ran into some confidence issues and my IBCLC saved our breastfeeding journey. I enjoyed the time she took to educate me and the support I received throughout my entire journey. I realized there is a gap in the lives of african american breastfeeding mothers and decided to pursue the profession.

WHAT IMPACT DO YOU HOPE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AS AN IBCLC?

I hope to motivate, educate and sustain as many breastfeeding families as I can.

WHY IS WINNING PACIFY'S DIVERSITY IN LACTATION SCHOLARSHIP MEANINGFUL TO YOU?

When I applied for the scholarship, the mission is what interested me. It was appealing for me for Pacify to recognize the gap in african american representation amongst the IBCLC profession. The scholarship's purpose met my goals and I am incredibly honored to be recognized for my passion to help breastfeeding families.
