Why I Want to Be an IBCLC

Crystal Lovett My interest in maternal child health began at a very young age. After receiving such amazing support from hospital and community lactation consultants following the births of my children, I knew I wanted to work in the maternal child health world and help other families navigate their journeys through pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding.  Becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant will equip me with knowledge and skills to reach many families in diverse situations. Learning never stops and I look forward to continuous growth in becoming and IBCLC and more!

how do you hope to make a difference as an IBCLC?

My goal is to help families prepare for their lactation journeys and support them during these journeys. This involves meeting them where they are to help facilitate a space of comfort to seek guidance, ask questions, express feelings and desires, work through difficult times, etc.

Why is winning Pacify's Diversity in Lactation Scholarship meaningful to you?

Not only does being awarded the Diversity in Lactation Consulting Scholarship help me achieve my goal of becoming an IBCLC, but also further enables me to inspire others to pursue their goals by letting them know resources are available and attainable. Certification training programs and exams can be costly, so knowing there is help available is important and encouraging.
