Why I Want to Be an IBCLC
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME AN IBCLC?
I value the skills and expertise that Lactation Consultants bring to something that is so critical for family and community wellness. Breast milk is more than nutrition, it is healthcare, preventive medicine, and infant and maternal protection.
WHAT IMPACT DO YOU HOPE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AS AN IBCLC?
My hope is to address disparities and inequities that exist in accessing compassionate and family centered lactation care. My intention is to hold space, provide nurturing care and support my own community to reach their breastfeeding goals.
WHY IS WINNING PACIFY'S DIVERSITY IN LACTATION SCHOLARSHIP MEANINGFUL TO YOU?
The diversity scholarship is a reminder that there are barriers to accessing lactation professionals in our own communities. It highlights and empowers people like me, from our own communities to become the professionals that we need. This scholarship allows us to change the face of the lactation field, and allows me to continue working toward this valuable certification.
About the Diversity in Lactation Scholarship
Pacify is committed to playing an active role in promoting diversity within the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) community. Our scholarship, which we award with partners across the country, covers up to $1000 of the costs associated with becoming a first-time IBCLC.
